Inclusive New Year's Eve Ball for immigrant families of people with disabilities

By organising a New Year's party, for the first time all our families came together. We managed to create a New Year's atmosphere of joy and warmth, a sense of unity among the members of our informal group and their families. All the children, regardless of their disabilities, took an active part in the games, dances and watched the performance. Some children, due to their characteristics and age, were able to see Grandpa Frost and "Snegurochka" for the first time and took part in the New Year's Eve party.

The organisational activities started with script writing and rehearsals (including a dress rehearsal held at MAM's headquarters the day before the festivities). We were able to come early to prepare the hall in advance and arrange its decorations, which we prepared during the week. We thought through all the decorations and made them ourselves or brought them from home, including: the actors' costume, the large Christmas tree, the wooden fireplace, garlands, etc. When decorating the venue, we took into account that people with different disabilities would be with us at Christmas - it was important to make sure everyone was comfortable and relaxed. We also set up a photo area, where we later took memorable photos with Grandpa Frost and 'Snegurochka'.

By organising and holding this event, we have come even closer. We have a lot of interesting, promising projects, both for children (regularly organising public holidays in a similar format, visiting family camps, trips to Poland for families, workshops, etc.) and for mums/fathers (going together for relaxation and emotional relief, running mutual support groups - narrative therapy, etc.).
